A CASH-SAVVY dad has revealed the easy way he got gorgeous DIY panelling for just £24.
Although renovating your property can oftentimes be a costly project, dad Robbie recently proved you don’t always need to fork out a fortune.

The DIY fanatics, from the UK, took to TikTok to reveal how a simple B&Q hack means you can spruce up your walls on the cheap.
According to Robbie, who lives in a 1970s home with wife Hannah and their adorable son, the popular retailer offers a variety of DIY panelling kits.
But rather than spending mega cash on the trendy buy, the thrifty shopper found a simple way to slash the costs and make the project cheaper.
”If you go to B&Q, you’ve probably seen these DIY panelling kits,” he told his 17k followers on the platform.
”These ones, they’re about £19 per pack – and for the room that I was doing, I worked out that I was going to need about four packs.
”So, instead of spending £80, what you should do is get a sheet of MDF and then just get then to cut it into strips for you.”
MDF or Medium-density fibreboard is a man-made wood that is free from natural defects.
It has a smooth sanded surface and a precision finish. MDF is very versatile and suitable for a wide number of internal uses such as internal joinery, panelling, boxing in, furniture, shelving, modelling and shop fittings.
At B&Q, the range of MDF sheets comes in various sizes, including 4mm MDF, 12mm MDF, 18mm MDF, and even 25mm MDF so you can find the right piece of MDF for your project.
MDF boards are strong and durable and can withstand a lot of the knocks of daily life so you can be confident that you will have a high-quality finish which will still look good no matter how busy your home becomes.

”The sheet only cost me £24. If anything, I actually preferred this because the strips were longer, this meant that I didn’t have to do as many joints.
”This is such a good little money-saving tip […] – and I managed to do the whole room,” said the dad who also advised fellow DIY fans to get their hands on a laser level.
”You need to make sure you get one of these bad boys – it saved me so much time and it was so easy.
”Then all you need to do is prime the wood, give it a lick of paint, don’t forget to fill in those joints and then you got some banging panelling.”
‘Much cheaper way to do it’
The affordable home makeover – posted on the couple’s TikTok account – has clearly impressed many, winning close to 130k views and a whopping 60 comments.
One person said: ”That’s what we did, but had the sheets of mdf delivered and my son cut it into strips. Much cheaper way to do it.”
A fellow thrifty DIYer chimed in: ”We did exactly same, 2 8×4 12mm sheets cut down to 100mm wide.
”Cut them in half to 120 high did the full room and then a little finish bead on top to finish. Looks unreal.”
”Thank you very much for that tip, l am about to start panelling my room,” someone else saw the informative clip just in time.
