A GRAN’S bucketloads of experience has earned her a record — as the world’s longest-serving KFC worker.

Pauline Richards, 74, has been with the takeaway fried chicken chain for 47 years.

She has served up more than six million drumsticks and millions more chicken wings at the chain’s store in Taunton, Somerset.

Pauline’s roles since 1978 have ranged from cleaner to manager.

She says simply enjoying a rapport with customers has been the special recipe for her longevity.

She said: “If you keep them happy, they are happy to come and see you. They come in and look for me and if I am on a break they ask for me to come down and say hello.”

The long-service record was previously held by American Lorena Neely, who worked for the firm between 1976 and 2023.

Pauline, who works alongside colleagues as young as 17, says she has no plans to stop.

She said: “It all depends on what my body says.

“I have been lucky I keep well. I haven’t had much illness in my life.”

Pauline, whose daughter and grandson have also worked at the KFC branch, says her long tenure has made her a local celebrity — and she has not had to buy a drink in the pub for two years.

KFC said Pauline was “an important role model in her local community and created a legacy the Colonel would be proud of”.
