A WOMAN has been left “freaking out” after making a discovery in her new home.
Emma Robinson, from the UK, recently moved in to a 100-year-old bungalow, but it came with an extra she knew nothing about.
Taking to TikTok, the baffled homeowner said: “Girls what is this.
“What are they, they’re in every room of my new house.
“It looks like a clicker for a seatbelt and I don’t know what it is.
“It’s freaking me out send help.”
In the clip she zoomed in on what did in fact look like a seat belt buckle stuck onto the wall next to the door in the room.
The bizarre contraption had a key you could turn that would lift a red plastic part up and down.
She was left scratching her head in confusion as she played around with the device.
“Can anybody tell me what on earth this is?! They’re in every room of my 100 year old bungalow,” she pleaded in the caption.
Fortunately, there were many people who were willing to share what they thought it was.
Some joked it was the old “tea alarm” system, with one joking: “Tea compliances button.

However, others shared the real answer.
It turns out the contraption was used as a panic button that would set off the house alarm and alert police when the key was turned.
The red part that pushed up would have flashed in the past to signal the alarm was on.
The clip has since gone viral on her TikTok account @emmaaprilrobinson with over 1.8 million views and 9,500 likes.
One person wrote: “The irony of you saying ‘send help’. Girl if they’re connected you’re gonna get that help!”
Another commented: “Yeah it’s a panic alarm.
“Saw one once by the front door when I was babysitting in the mid 90’s.
“Didn’t know what it was. Pressed it and the whole house alarm went off! Had to get my dad round!”
One more penned: “It’s a panic alarm linked to the house alarm normally in master bedrooms all the rage in the 1990s and 2000s I still have mine.”
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Panic alarm, looks disabled as when your pressing it the alarm not going off.”
Someone else added: “My nan had this in her house I used to press it which would set the house alarm off.”
