THE Masked Singer 2025 is underway with a new batch of celebrities sporting crazy and colourful costumes.
In a bid to conceal their identity, one star stepped into the Pufferfish costume and took to The Masked Singer stage – here’s who fans believe is hiding behind the mask.

Who is Pufferfish on The Masked Singer 2025?
Pufferfish is just one of many crazy characters performing on the latest series of The Masked Singer, and they’ve yet to be unmasked.
After being chosen by judge Jonathan Ross to take to the stage, the star shocked fans with an impressive performance of Chappell Roan‘s No2 track Good Luck, Babe!
Since then, Pufferfish has continued to impress the judges and those watching at home and will now join Wolf and Dressed Crab for the finale of the ITV show.
For the 2025 series, Love Island host Maya Jama has also joined the judges’ row.
Speaking ahead of the opening show, the new addition to The Masked Singer said: ”I’m such a Masked Singer fan, so joining the panel alongside Davina, Jonathan, and Mo – and of course working with Joel – is going to be so much fun!
“I can’t wait to figure out who’s underneath all those incredible costumes, vibe to their performances, and get front-row seats to the unmaskings.
“I’ve watched the show for a long time, so I’m definitely bringing my A-game to the panel!”
What are the clues?
Luckily for viewers, Pufferfish has shared a selection of helpful hints throughout the series.
The clues include:
- An American football
- A rubber spider shown on a hairbrush
- A pair of dice that land on a five and six
- Pufferfish could be seen squashing a rubber chicken with its blue boot
- “The Empire State is just too hard to miss out on”
- “I’m a speedy learner and it runs in the family too”
They also shared the riddle: “Being puffed up all day can feel so excessive, sometimes being small is just as impressive.”
Who do the Masked Singer judges think Pufferfish could be?
So far, there have been several names linked to Pufferfish.
Newbie Maya guessed US star Nicole Richie and guest judge Vicky McClure opted for Kelly Osbourne.
Other judge theories include US actress Hayden Panettiere and Sort Your Life Out host and former X Factor singer, Stacey Solomon.
But Jonathan‘s guess was way out as he put Rag ‘n’ Bone Man‘s name in the mix.

Who do The Masked Singer fans think Pufferfish is?
After performing Chappell Roan’s Good Luck, Babe! many viewers were convinced that Pufferfish was singing sensation Alicia Keys.
Taking to X, one viewer wrote: “Omg could Pufferfish actually be Alicia Keys?!”
Elsewhere, a second added: “‘Empire state so Alicia Keys?”
And a third viewer explained: “I haven’t got an idea about Pufferfish yet. Maybe Alicia Keys or Jamie Lynn Spears.”
However, the internet seems to be divided on the identity of the sea creature.

Following the semi-final, some viewers believe Hannah Waddingham is hiding behind the mask.
Taking to social media, one fan of the show shared: “Could Pufferfish be Hannah Waddingham? A lot of clues fit.”
And the theories don’t stop there – several viewers are also pointing towards 90s pop icon Shania Twain.
One theory shared on X read: ”#TheMaskedSinger #pufferfish SHANIA TWAIN.”
And a second added: ”Shania Twain #pufferfish #themaskedsinger.”
LeAnn Rimes‘ name has also been shared, as has Brooke Shields, Perrie Edwards, and Nadine Coyle.

Pufferfish – This year’s winner had flawless vocals throughout the competition. West End powerhouse Samantha Barks told the audience she’d loved every second of the series.
Dressed Crab – Former American football player turned jazz singer Gregory Porter was the man behind the crustacean. He duetted with Keala Settle, who previously competed as Air Fryer, in the final.
Wolf – Wet Wet Wet heartthrob Marti Pellow was unmasked as the rugged character. McFly’s Danny Jones, who won last year’s show as Piranha, was on the panel in the final and paid his respects to the Scottish crooner.
Bush – she didn’t fool viewers and the judges were so close, but Bush was in fact EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy. Davina McCall came closest, guessing Morgana Robinson, who does a mean impression of the Sonia actress
Bear – another success for new judge Maya Jama as she guessed correctly that the singing Bear was none other than singer, songwriter Example – real name Elliot Gleave.
Snail – this singer certainly fooled the judges as the mask was lifted to reveal Andrea Corr. Jonathan Ross admitted to being a huge fan of The Corrs.
Kingfisher – everyone was convinced this was Harry Hill, but the mask was lifted to reveal artist Sir Grayson Perry, who is known for his alter-ego Claire.
Teeth – this character baffled judges and viewers with their changing voice. They were finally unmasked as former Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc. None of the panel managed to guess it was her.
Tattoo – despite Davina McCall saying “you sound the same” after this character was unmasked, none of the judges guessed it was 80s singer Carol Decker, whose hit China In Your Hand was a No1 hit for five weeks.
Toad In The Hole – a massive diva strop saw the character storm off the stage after the judges voted them off. They later returned to be unmasked as singer Macy Gray.
Pegasus – the mythical horse was revealed to be Prue Leith, with judge Jonathan Ross correctly guessing her identity.
Spag Bol – this character was first to be unmasked and was none other than Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway.
Plus there was one extra unmasking this season, with Giant Joel – a caricature of host Joel Dommett – unveiled as double-double Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah.
