One shopper said Ting was the perfect replacement for Lilt

A shopper took to Facebook to share the exciting news that a canned drink called Ting, was a great alternative to the discontinued, Lilt.

They wrote in the Food Finds U.K Facebook group: “A much tastier alternative to Lilt.

“It is sold in major UK supermarkets and you’ll find it in the Caribbean food aisles.”

The tropical tipple was discontinued in 2023 after 50 years on the market, leaving its fans devastated.

The post showed a photo of a green can with the word, Ting, emblazoned on the front.

Ting is a fizzy drink that is well loved in the Caribbean and sells for 65p at Sainsbury’s.

It is flavoured with Jamaican grapefruit juice and tastes both tart and sweet.

Other shoppers reacted to the find, with some pointing out it has been available in the UK for years.

One person wrote: “Been drinking it for years. Nice with Rum,” wrote one person.

Another added: “Everyone saying it’s been about for years need to understand it’s all about location.

I lived in a village for about 33 years of my life and never saw any of these cans at all or like KA ones etc etc as there wasn’t any culture at all. Seriously none.

Moved to a very urban area and this and KA about in every shop and supermarket and takeaways.”

Fizzy drink lovers were left devastated when Coca-Cola, who owned Lilt, axed the drink and have been on the lookout for dupes ever since, and some have raved about  Aldi’s Tropical Blast.

Coca-Cola announced it was scrapping Lilt and rebranding under a new name – Fanta Pineapple and Grapefruit.

It comes as shoppers are going mad over changes to the blackcurrant drink Ribena, saying it’s made it “vile”.

Ribena has reformulated its blackcurrant squash recipe to slightly reduce its blackcurrant juice content.

Instead, a natural blackcurrant flavour has been added and an ingredient called polydextrose has been removed.

The new squash started to be sold at the beginning of March and people on social media complained about the change to the taste.

One wrote on X: “Can’t believe I just wasted £1.25 on a bottle of ribena and it tastes like absolute p*** omggg when did they change the recipe I want to cry it’s vile.”
