TESCO has discontinued a popular £1.95 breakfast staple in all of its stores.

The supermarket’s own-brand apricot wheats have vanished from shelves to the dismay of shoppers.

One despairing fan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to question the disappearance of the cereal.

They said: “For several weeks now you’ve had the other varieties but no apricot wheats.

“First you took away the Honey Monster Puffs, and now this.”

Tesco then confirmed that the cereal had been discontinued.

A spokesperson said it was no longer available in any of its stores and added: “so sorry for any inconvenience.”

A similar Kellogg’s cereal is also shown as unavailable at Tesco online, but it is listed at Sainsbury’s, Asda and Ocado with prices ranging from £1.95 to £2.45 for the 500g box.

M&S and Waitrose also stock an own-brand apricot wheat alternative for those missing their favourite breakfast.

Brands frequently discontinue products or lines that aren’t performing.

Among those that have been discontinued this year are Aldi’s chilli cheese-topped rolls and a vegan KitKat.

Sainsbury’s also left shoppers disappointed when its Respect eggs vanished from stores, while M&S confirmed last year that it axed its Cocoa & Cherry Bircher pot.

The tub was a popular breakfast snack for many customers who like to eat on the go.

Another loss to breakfast fans was German discounter  Aldi’s popular Very Berry Muesli, which has been missing from supermarket shelves.
