ACCORDING to data, around 44% of adults in the UK have a fear of the dentist, and 76% admit to putting off going to have their teeth checked.
But while visiting the dentist on a regular basis is essential, especially if there’s an emergency, now one woman has left the web mortified after sharing the jaw-dropping DIY tooth extraction her mum performed in their garden.
Daughter Lilly, who goes by @chickaachickaa on TikTok, explained that her mother was in a desperate need to have one of her gnashers removed.
However, seeing as her mum was ”scared of the dentist”, she decided to come up with a different alternative – and took matters into her own hands.
The now-viral video, which has racked up close to an astronomical 8million views, sees Lilly’s mother walk outdoors towards the lush lawn.
It’s only when the mum turns around and faces the camera that viewers can see and eventually figure out what she’s about to do.
Smiling for Lilly, who dubbed her mum ”insane”, the parent revealed she had attached a string to a tooth – which had been tied to a fitness dumbbell.
Without much hesitation or countdown, the mother then proceeded to throw the weights onto the ground – and the tooth popped out right after.
Tooth extraction should always be left with dentists, as by trying to do it yourself at home, you’re running a high risk of making that infection worse.
Not only do you now have an open wound and a hole, you also run the risk of damaging the tooth even more.
Sharing the bizarre DIY extraction on her page, Lilly said: ”My mum needed a tooth extracted but [she] is scared of the dentist so she resorted to this???
”And yes it came out… she’s insane,” the daughter went on in the caption, as thousands flooded to comments in total disbelief.

”I tried to tell her to put shoes on and watch her feet but she had a mission to complete real bad apparently.”
According to Lilly, her mum has since visited the dentist to get a new plate and she was ”fine” following the DIY extraction.
”Perfectly fine, root came out, no infection and the dentist had a new plate put in.”
Hundreds of social media users were horrified after watching the footage, with one wondering: ”How is someone scared of the dentist but not this?”
Another chimed in: ”It’s the dropping of the dumbbell near her bare feet for me.”
”There was no countdown or nothing,” a third couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed.
”My dad literally pulled out his tooth with construction pliers, I was and still am horrified,” someone else shared their horror story.
Another, meanwhile, reckoned there was a different reason behind the decision to take matters into her own hands.
”I think she was more scared of the bill than the dentist.”
