DEIDRE SAYS: IT’S understandable that anyone who has been betrayed, feeling hurt and rejected, might seek sexual validation by cheating themselves. But the reality is revenge is rarely sweet, and in reality brings another layer of mistrust.

Cheating might make you feel better and more confident in the short term, but it won’t help rebuild a damaged relationship.

If you really want to make things work with Charlie, you need to convince him you are truly sorry and willing to put a lot of effort in.

Agreeing not to see or communicate with Jack for the foreseeable would go a long way to proving to Charlie you are genuinely sorry.

And of course he still needs to appreciate that you are also hurt and need reassurance.

My support pack Cheating And Can You Get Over It explains how to build back a stronger relationship.
