PRINCESS Charlotte left royal fans delighted when she joined members of the royal family for the annual Christmas Day church service at Sandringham last year.

The nine-year-old, who walked alongside her parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and her two brothers Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, six, looked adorable in a plaid coat, which perfectly matched Kate Middleton’s scarf.

It turns out the subtle piece of jewellery is worth £1,500 and was designed by Prince Harry’s ex

The £1.5k necklace is now out of stock, but this similar version is available on Maya Brenner

But nestled around her neck was a pretty, dainty and subtle ruby necklace which almost went unnoticed.

And it turns out the beautiful piece of jewellery is rumoured to have been designed by Prince Harry’s ex – Chelsy Davy.

According to The Mail on Sunday, the stunning necklace is from Chelsy’s jewellery brand AYA’s collaboration with Gemfields.

And it’s worth a jaw-dropping £1,500.

Not only did Charlotte wear the stunning AYA necklace alongside her tartan coat, but she also wore a selection of friendship bracelets and a gold band with funky red tassels on too.

But unfortunately for royal fans, the beautiful but expensive necklace is sadly no longer available to buy.

However, if you’re after something similar, a beautiful piece by Maya Brenner is hugely alike and just as subtle.

It’s available in yellow gold, rose gold and white gold, but it doesn’t come cheap and has a price tag of £460.

Prince Harry and Chelsy’s relationship

Prince Harry, 40, and Chelsy Davy, 39, started dating in 2004 after crossing paths in Cape Town during Harry’s gap year.

Their romance continued, with Chelsy attending King Charles‘ 60th birthday and even meeting the late Queen at a society wedding.

Reflecting on the relationship in his book, Spare, Harry said: “I cherished Chels’s carefree and authentic spirit.

“She never worried about what other people thought.

“She wore short skirts and high boots, danced with abandon, drank as much tequila as I did, and I cherished all those things about her… but I couldn’t help worrying how Granny might feel about them.”

He also added: “And the last thing I wanted was for Chels to change and accommodate them… I [didn’t] know if Chels could handle it.

Chelsy Davy’s jewellery brand

Chelsy founded her brand – AYA – in 2016, specialising in fine jewellery based on African-inspired designs.

It uses ethically sourced gemstones from across the African continent in its 18 karat gold designs.

Speaking of its founder, Prince Harry‘s former flame, the website says: “AYA was founded by Chelsy Davy, a lawyer turned gemologist with a love for jewellery and a fascination for gemstones.

“Chelsy studied gemology, gaining a diploma from the Gemological Institute of America, the world’s foremost authority on diamonds and coloured gemstones.”

When discussing her brand, the 39-year-old said: “AYA was born out of my love for Africa, for its people and my fascination with its gemstones.”

Kate Middleton and Chelsy’s friendship

Whilst Chelsy was dating Harry, it was reported that Kate Middleton, 42, tried to make friends with her, but was turned down.

However, the pair later bonded in 2008

Royal biographer Katie Nicholl claimed that the mum-of-three attempted to befriend Chelsy by inviting her to go shopping to try and bond with her.

In her book Kate: The Future Queen, the author claimed that Kate extended the offer of friendship to the businesswoman, but it didn’t go down well.
Kate had made an effort to befriend Chelsy, inviting her clothes shopping, but Chelsy had turned the offer down
Katie wrote: “Her friendship with Chelsy was lukewarm; they were completely different characters and the bubbly Zimbabwean got along better with Pippa.

“Kate had made an effort to befriend Chelsy, inviting her clothes shopping, but Chelsy had turned the offer down, leading to a coolness between them.”

It wasn’t until 2008 when the two finally bonded, after they were both invited to the wedding of Peter Phillip and Autumn Kelly, at St George’s Chapel – where Prince Harry would later tie the knot to Meghan Markle, 43.

Kate was nervous as she was attending the wedding alone on Prince William’s behalf, and so didn’t know many of the guests.

Describing the mood between Harry and his ex, Katie wrote: “Harry and Chelsy, who were back together after a romantic reunion in Botswana, had been invited, and Kate was grateful, for she didn’t know many of the guests.”

But Kate and Chelsy had another thing in common that day, they were both meeting the Queen properly for the first time.

Katie continued: “On this occasion, however, they bonded, because they were both nervous about meeting the Queen.
Chelsy and Kate stuck together like glue
“Although she was a regular guest at the royal palaces and had been to Sandringham for the Boxing Day shoot, this was, rather surprisingly, the first time Kate would be formally introduced to the Queen.

“Understandably, without William by her side, she was shy and later recalled, ‘It was amongst a lot of other guests and she was very friendly.'”

Katie also claimed: “Chelsy and Kate stuck together like glue.

“The Queen was pleased to meet her and Kate, who had been dating William for nearly eight years by that point.

“It was the first time either had navigated such an important social occasion, and they were keen to make a good impression, particularly in the presence of the Queen.”

Although they had “fundamentally different” personalities, the two women made an effort to be a united force.

Katie continued: “While Chelsy had always got along more easily with Kate’s younger sister Pippa, she and Kate had made an effort to be friends.

“Both were in long-term serious romances with two of the world’s most famous princes and both were being groomed to be future princesses.

“Kate was sensible, careful, and conservative when it came to how she dressed and behaved.

“Chelsy was a much freer spirit who threw caution to the wind.

“She loved Harry, but the fact that he was a prince was often more of a drawback for her than an advantage.”
