THIS is the disastrous moment a gender reveal party was sent into chaos as the “dry ice” forced everyone to evacuate the home.

UK-based Amy Hamer, 30, had set up a camera to capture the reaction of friends and family as they gathered to find out if she was having a baby boy or girl.

The couple decided to use dry ice – the solid form of carbon dioxide (CO2) – for the big moment, with plans that the smoke would turn pink for a girl or blue for a boy.

Amy, CEO of NKD Apparel, and her husband were initially over the moon to find out they were having a girl.

However, things quickly spiraled out of control as intense levels of pink smoke started filling the lounge.

Instead of the moment being celebrated, everyone was forced to evacuate the room and had to stand in the cold in the garden.

Amy said on TikTok: “This is your sign to not do a dry ice gender reveal inside your gorgeous home.”

The mum-to-be has disabled comments on the video, but it has since got viral with over five million views.

Many people have debated whether gender reveal parties are a good idea or not on Reddit, with one saying them make them “cringe.”

Another added: “They’re very self centered events in general. Attention for the sake of attention.”

A second shared: “Lately, these gender reveals have been insanely over the top, to the point of trashing parks and setting entire mountains on fire.”

However, one person who supported the idea said: “Personally I think the idea itself is very cute and fun. It’s super exciting to find out if you’re having a boy or a girl.”

However, when it is cooled it solidifies around -78C and is referred to as dry ice.

When it starts to heat up, e.g. when put in a room temperature setting, it turns from a solid into a gas.

A small amount of sold CO2 creates a large volume of gas, and this can “increase CO2 concentrations in air to dangerous levels in poorly ventilated areas leading to the asphyxiation”, according to the University of Edinburgh.

They advised: “At high concentrations CO2 also acts as a toxicant and can cause unconsciousness.”

Another danger with dry ice is if you come into contact with it.

The university stated: “Contact or close proximity with solid CO2 or surfaces cooled by the solid (e.g. when used in a dry ice/acetone bath) can cause cold burns.

“Prolonged exposure may lead to frostbite.”

Someone agreed, stating: “I think you are taking it way too seriously, lol. It really isn’t that deep.”

We recently shared how a gaming-loving couple appeared to have ditched the balloon-popping trend and went for something a little more unique.

Waiting at a spot overlooking the virtual sea sporting fitting pink and blue outfits, the excited pair wait for a series of blue and pink planes to fly over Los Santos, a huge and sprawling metropolis in GTA Online.

Just moments later, as the parents-to-be follow the journey in real life, the planes shift to a blue colour to confirm the gender as a boy.

It was a heartwarming moment, with the woman and her partner embracing one another in a hug – and the Reddit community has reacted in kind.

“I can get behind this. No deaths. No injuries. No property damage,” wrote one social media user.

”And it didn’t cost thousands of dollars.”

“Ngl thats kinda wholesome and way better than a regular gender reveal,” another added.

Meanwhile, someone else joked that it would be all too easy for a griefer to turn up and start messing things up.

”This is a good way to do a gender reveal. No wild fires, just a shared love of GTA. Awesome,” a fourth gave the idea a thumbs-up.

Another confessed that although they desperately wanted to hate the idea, they simply couldn’t.
