But Pauline Quirke was a hugely underrated actress with exceptional range beyond that comic timing.
Recently, she showed that depth in Broadchurch.
But many will have forgotten her acting masterclass in dark 1996 thriller The Sculptress.
She was admired across the board — a proper pro who was never flashy like Hollywood types, despite having twice the talent.
But her impact went beyond the small screen.
On Birds of a Feather, she, Lesley and Linda pushed for the same pay as the lads over on Only Fools and Horses.
And her work helping working-class youngsters try to make it in the industry is legendary.
Her influence will live on.
