Del Boy’s phone and lion cigar jar among iconic Only Fools and Horses props sold for huge sum

A HAUL of props from TV’s Only Fools and Horses has sold for £23,000 at auction.

They included a signed grey polo shirt worn by Del Boy in 1989 episode The Unlucky Winner Is . . . which went for £8,000.

A door from the back of the Trotters’ three-wheeled Reliant Regal Supervan, signed by 20 members of the cast, went for £1,400.

The sale in Bristol also included Del Boy’s ceramic lion cigar jar, signed by David Jason, which sold for £700, and a candlestick telephone, which went for £280.

The lots sold for £18,000. Fees took the total paid to £23,000.

Auctioneer Andy Stowe said: “One of the longest-running jokes in the series, Uncle Albert’s ‘during the war’ stories were often cause for laughter.

“To have one of his exact prop medals from the series represented a special piece of British comedy history.

“We screen-matched the ribbon to the episode Dates where Del Boy meets Raquel but he then mistakes a police officer for a stripper and rips her clothes off.

The door was signed by up to 20 members of the cast

“To have Del Boy’s shirt as well was quite amazing as nothing from him ever comes up for sale before.

“There are so many fans of Only Fools & Horses across the world and there is an extra nostalgia at Christmas time when all the episodes are shown again.”

Only Fools & Horses’ first series was broadcast in 1981.

The 1996 episode ‘Time on Our Hands’ attracted a record 24.3million viewers.
