BRITS have been issued a stark warning over a popular sex position after one man was left with a fractured penis.
Is one of your New Year’s resolutions adding a little spice to your sex life? If so, you may have considered using flavoured lubes, libido-boosting foods or trying out new positions.
But now experts urged Brits to ”be careful” after one man, from Indonesia, fractured his penis after it buckled against his partner while having sex in a notoriously risky position.
The 37-year-old showed up to hospital with a swollen, bloody and severely bruised penis, which doctors claimed resembled an aubergine.
The patient said that he heard a ”loud popping sound” while having sex a few hours earlier in the reverse cowgirl position.
Whereas Cowgirl involves a woman straddling their partner face-to-face, Reverse Cowgirl involves doing the complete opposite and turning your back on your partner – as the name suggests.
This means the person receiving the penetration is in total control and can set the rhythm and pace for their own pleasure and enjoyment.
The staff at the hospital found he had fractured his penis, before rushing him in for emergency surgery, where they were able to repair the damage.
The medics have now issued a warning that the painful injury can occur when an erect penis hits the perineum or pubic bone of their partner during ”vigorous” sex, which causes it to buckle.
The dangerous position — also called ”female superior” — is known for its risk of injuring an erect penis.
Although there are no bones in the penis, the injury is still known as a ”fracture”.
The anatomy of an erection is based around two spongy tubes which fill up with blood and harden, and a firm, fibrous sheath which surrounds them, called the tunica albuginea.

The 37-year-old immediately felt severe pain, lost his erection and began bleeding out of his penis. The patient was also unable to pass urine, Daily Mail reported.
Doctors said the man had suffered a significant hematoma — an injury to the wall of the blood vessel, which causes blood to seep out into the surrounding tissue.
Following the emergency surgery, the medics noted that the man’s penis was ”in good shape” a few weeks later and he could get an erection and pass urine without any issues.
Writing in the journal Urology Case Reports, the experts noted that penis fractures can also happen whilst masturbating or even by turning over in bed at a funny angle.
The urologists explained that the ”very uncommon urological emergency” is easy to recognise and diagnose, as they normally cause a cracking sound, sudden swelling, bruising and severe pain.
There have only been around 16 documented cases of the injury per year worldwide since 1925.
Men in their 40s are most likely to experience a penis fracture.
