Host Jeremy praised the contestant as he walked away with £250,000

Eagle-eyed viewers watched as Jack – an avid viewer of the show – tried his luck in the hot seat.

He successfully answered the £250,000 question but when it came to the half a million pound question he decided to bow out.

Jeremy, 64, asked him: “Which food term can also mean the tiny layer of bubbles that forms at the top of a glass of sparkling wine?”

Jack had four answers to choose from – Mousse, Ganache, Fondant, and Soufflé.

Deliberating, Jack then told Jezza: “I don’t drink sparkling wine, so it would be a complete guess.

“And I’ve got no lifelines, none of my friends would probably know, so I’m going.”

Jeremy then declared: “Well there you go, ladies and gentleman.

“You’re leaving here with a quarter of a million pounds!”

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire viewers at home were left impressed by Jack’s game play, but correctly guessed the right answer.

Taking to social media, one said: “I knew the answer to that £500,000 question.”

While a third posted: “He was definitely one of the best players I’ve seen play.”

Another, revealing the correct answer, said: “I knew mousse, me (I do drink fizz).”
