Millie Radford who had first baby at 19 says mum Sue is crazy for having 22 kids & insists she’ll stop at three

WITH 22 children, the Radfords are officially Britain’s biggest family. 

But one of the eldest daughters, Millie, has made it clear she won’t be taking after her mum when it comes to having more kids.

Millie became a mum at 18 and now has three children of her own.

She welcomed her first daughter, Ophelia, in 2020 at age 19, though the father’s identity remains private.

Her son Chester followed in 2022, and her youngest, Elodie-Jade, arrived in 2023 with her now-husband, Harley Passmore.

Speaking on This Morning alongside her parents, siblings and husband Harley, Millie, 23, opened up about her decision to stop at three children. 

She shared: “I always say ‘Why did my mum ever have more than three [kids]?

“Never more than three [kids], three is just enough. 

“When you have two [kids], you’ve got enough hands, when you have [three] kids, you don’t have that spare hand.” 

Her husband Harley also said: “In the future maybe, not right now. They’re all in school and nursery. Gives us a bit of us time.” 

However, Millie quickly added: “Absolutely not.” 

When Harley was asked what it was like to join Britain’s largest family, he said: “It wasn’t that bad, they’re very loving people, very welcoming.”

As for the chaos you’d expect from such a large household, mum Sue, 49, insists it’s not always what it seems. 

“Everyone expects the house to be crazy, but it can be calm,” she explained. 

Millie and Harley said “I do” in November last year, but their big day nearly didn’t go ahead thanks to a major pre-wedding argument.

The couple tied the knot at Wennington Hall in Lancashire, a stunning venue that offers space for 140 guests for the wedding meal and up to 250 for the evening reception.

But with packages starting at £8,995, it’s far from a budget option.

In the first episode of 22 Kids & A Wedding, the Radford family’s latest series, viewers got a behind-the-scenes look at Millie and Harley’s wedding planning journey – and the challenges they faced.

After Harley’s romantic proposal during a trip to Florida, the pair began organising their dream wedding. 

But juggling work, parenting, and life’s pressures put a strain on their relationship.

The situation worsened when Harley unexpectedly lost his job, throwing their wedding plans into uncertainty.

Although Millie’s parents, Noel and Sue, had offered to help cover some of the wedding costs, the stress of planning proved overwhelming at times for the young couple.
