MANCHESTER UNITED director Jean-Claude Blanc has stepped down from his position at Old Trafford.

Blanc joined the United board last year when Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchased a 25 per cent stake in the club.

Jean-Claude Blanc is no longer director of Man Utd

Having already held the title of CEO of Ineos Sport, he was appointed as director and represented the Red Devils at European Clubs’ Association and Premier League meetings.

However, the 62-year-old has now vacated the position to take up a different role within Man Utd.

A statement from the club read: “Jean-Claude Blanc has stepped down from his position as a director of Manchester United Football Club.

“However, he will continue to have an active role in the management of the club in his new position as Chief of International Football Relations and Special Adviser to the board.”

Blanc’s new role will see him continue to represent United internationally, including in relations with Uefa and Fifa.

He is vastly experienced in European football circles having worked for Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain previously.

The United chief was also on the Olympic Organising Committee in the 1980s and 90s.

In addition, he was previously the CEO of the French Tennis Association and in charge of organising the French Open.

United officials are working desperately behind the scenes to help improve the first team squad on the pitch.

The Red Devils currently sit 14th in the Premier League table and are enduring their worst-ever Prem season.
