M25 closed after lorry and two cars crash during morning rush hour

A SERIOUS crash has sparked major delays and traffic chaos for commuters on the M25 this morning.

Police were called to a smash involving a lorry and two cars on the extremely busy motorway which has seen two lanes closed down.

The collision unfolded between junctions 27 and 28 at around 7.15am.

The hard shoulder, lane one and two have been shut down.

Bumper-to-bumper traffic has formed at the junction, with huge delays on the anticlockwise carriageway.

Congestion is expected to clear at around 10am, according to M25 traffic updates

Essex Police said: “We are currently at the scene of a collision on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25, between junctions 27 and 28.

“At about 7.15am we received reports that a lorry and a car were involved in a collision.

“Two lanes of the road are currently blocked. Drivers should expect delays and plan their journeys accordingly.

“We are currently working at the scene with emergency service colleagues and would like to thank the public for their patience.”
