I was quoted £15k to get my kitchen redone so did it myself and saved £13.5k – a £3 Amazon buy made all the difference

WANTING to spruce up your home can be tricky if you’re on a budget, that’s exactly what this woman discovered when she was quoted of £15K to get her kitchen re-done.

Not wanting to fork out so much money, she decided to do it herself, saving a whopping £13.5K in the process.

Kitchen renovation POV: wanting a new kitchen but unable to afford the $20,000 price tag.
The kitchen looked dull and outdated before the DIY project

Jade shared her DIY journey on YouTube, and people were amazed by how good the finished kitchen looked.

Before she got to work the space was outdated with white cupboards, tiles and old fixtures and fittings.

So, the first thing on her to-do list was to take off all the cupboard doors and give them a new lease of life.

Instead of simply painting them though, she completely transformed them by sanding each one down and adding wooden moulding.

The drawers then got painted a stunning sage green colour, and some new handles made all the difference.

Although Jade didn’t reveal exactly where she bagged the kitchen handles from, they’re extremely similar to the Decoranddecor Dimora D-Shape Cupboard Handles on Amazon.

And the best part is they’re priced at just £3.49, so won’t break the bank.

Next, the old white tile backsplash was removed, and everything got a much needed lick of paint.

Things were already starting to look better, but Jade wasn’t done yet and wanted to go the extra mile to create the kitchen of her dreams.

Using wooden slats, she drilled them into the outside of her worktop for a chic Scandi look.

Then it was time for some new tiles.

She stuck to the white theme, but this time got some in a much more modern oblong shape to bring the kitchen up-to-date a bit.

Finally, it was time for the finishing touches, including a large fruit bowl, some wooden chopping boards and some posh wooden stools.

All in all, Jade revealed that the DIY project cost her $2,000 (£1,587.93).

And after showing off the epic transformation others were inspired to take on the challenge themselves.

One commented on the viral video: “YOU ARE INCREDIBLY!!! THIS IS SO INSPIRING!! Thank you for taking the time to film it!”

A second agreed: “I’m in love with this!!! Green in a kitchen feels so fresh and underrated.”

“I wish it were as quick as this clip. I know it was a lot of work,” a third chimed in.

And another said: “This is incredible! This shows that anyone can do things like this, if we are just going to try and learn.”

Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “Wonderful!!! The redo costs are ridiculous.

“I find myself doing these things around the house too it so cost effective Awesome job!!!”
