SEVERAL earthquakes have hit Turkey’s largest city Istanbul – the most powerful with a magnitude of 6.2.
At least 151 people were injured after fleeing buildings due to panic caused by the earthquakes, Istanbul‘s governor’s office said.
The tremors occurred at 12:13pm, 12:49pm, and 12:51pm local time.
People could be seen running from buildings as the quakes hit densely populated areas.
The tremors were felt across much of Istanbul, where a fifth of Turkey’s population lives.
