CORONATION Street star Geoffrey Hinsliff’s will has been revealed following his death last year.
The Leeds-born actor played cabbie Don Brennan in the ITV soap for a decade from 1987.
He grabbed audiences far and wide with his tempestuous on-screen relationship with Ivy, played by the late Lynne Perrie.
Now, his will has been revealed, following his death aged 87 on September 15 last year.
Newly released documents show his estate was worth £336,755, which was reduced to £333,214 after deductions.
Almost all of this giant sum was left to his wife Judith, who he married in 1967, while £5,000 was left to his nephew Russell Johnson.
The Corrie star was described as “restless, curious, adventurous and funny” by his wife and two daughters, Gaby and Sophie.
They added: “He loved nothing better than setting the world to right around the dinner table.
“But it was family and home that ultimately mattered to him most.”
In a statement, ITV added: “His partnership with Lynne Perrie was something rather special and they gave the viewers huge pleasure for many years.”
Hinsliff had a long and varied acting career with appearances in TV shows Adam Adamant Lives!, Dixon of Dock Green, UFO, Crown Court, I Claudius, The Professionals, and Heartbeat throughout the 1960s and ’70s.
The star also appeared in two Doctor Who stories: Image of the Fendahl and Nightmare of Eden, and had a role in the comedy-drama series Brass.
Above all, he was best known for his long-running role on Coronation Street.
Hinsliff’s character, Don Brennan, had storylines ranging from on-and-off extramarital affairs with Denise Black’s character Denise Osbourne, to the attempted kidnapping of Amanda Barrie’s character Alma Halliwell.
Brennan was eventually written off the show in 1997 when his character died in a car crash shortly after kidnapping Alma Halliwell and attempting to murder her then-husband Mike Baldwin, played by Johnny Briggs.
Hinsliff lived in Winster in the Derbyshire Dales before his death in September last year following a short illness.
Tributes poured in for the star after his death, including some from fellow Corrie stars.
Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt, said: “Geoff was a lovely, quiet man who will be sadly missed by us all.”
Fans also took to X to share their condolences last year.
One wrote: “Coronation Street Legend Geoff Hinsliff, who played Don Brennan, has sadly passed away. RIP.”
Others simply wrote: “R.I.P Don. R.I.P.”
