FREEVIEW watchers can access 15 brand new channels on their TVs this week – but they’re hidden in a place viewers may not expect to find them.
If you can access Freeview Play with an internet connection then you’ll find the channels on a popular app that’s just gone through a big change.

Channel 5 has just relaunched its main TV station and streaming service under one name, simply the numerical 5.
And as part of it all, the broadcaster has introduced 15 extra channels on its app.
The upgrade is rolling out so it may not be available on your box immediately.
When it does, you’ll find a new Live TV tab.
5 owner Paramount is including some content you might expect to pay for on Sky or Virgin Media.
This includes MTV hits Catfish and Teen Mom.
Here’s the full list of channels:
- Police Interceptors
- 5 Cops
- GPs Behind Closed Doors
- 5 History
- Trucking Hell
- 5 Crime
- 5 A&E
- Bargain Loving Brits
- Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly
- The Yorkshire Vet
- Geordie Shore
- Catfish
- Teen Mom
- MTV Reality
- Milkshake!
5 says more channels will probably launch in future too.
“This is the start of a new and exciting era for 5 as we bring together our linear and streaming services under one clear brand,” said Sarah Rose, President of 5 and UK Regional Lead at Paramount.
“Everything our audience and our advertisers already love about Channel 5 will be central to this relaunch – but there will be much more besides, with a huge array of content from the Paramount family and beyond, new live channels and a brand-new user experience for our streaming product.”
If you don’t have Freeview Play fear not, as the 5 app is available on other devices such as mobile, tablets and smart TV too.
