Redditors are concerned about the future of the show

The documentary series, which has aired on Channel 4 for more than a decade, mainly focuses on Bedfordshire Police as they investigate cases in Luton.

The show last aired last month, with three episodes airing throughout the whole of January.

24 Hours In Police Custody has aired 10 series in total, with the last being broadcast in 2021.

Only specials have aired since.

The programme, which is made by The Garden – the same production company that makes 24 Hours in A&E, has a “sporadic” release schedule, according to fans who say they are worried it might not air again.

Taking to a dedicated Reddit thread for British TV shows, one person shared their concerns.

FANS SCRAMBLE

“When will there be a new episode!?” the Redditor asked.

“Been left high and dry for 2 weeks now does anyone know the schedule?” they concluded.

One fellow fan of the show then replied: “The release schedule for this show is sporadic to say the least, never know when it’s coming out.”

“This is a very under rated programme,” added another, going on to say: “It’s not sensationalist, reports complex procedure well and leaves viewers to make up there own minds.

“I hope we see alot more episodes.”

While a third person echoed: “It is an exceptional series, a real insight into the the work of UK policing.

“I really look forward to each episode. I’ve been watching C4’s murder in the 21st century. Any comments welcome… I’m astounded by the difference between the interview process of the UK vs the USA.

“The formality of the UK vs the casual, over familiar USA.”

The first series of seven episodes aired in late 2014, with fans of the show still completely obsessed more than 10 years later.

Filming for the very first series took place at Luton Police Station over a six-week period, with more than 80 cameras used for the shoot.

Channel 4 then commissioned further series, with the second airing in early 2015.

Although Luton seems to be the main focus, a few episodes have taken place elsewhere in Bedfordshire and in Cambridgeshire.

NO NEW SERIES FOR FOUR YEARS

Series 10 began broadcasting in March 2021, with only sporadic episodes airing every so often since then.

January and July 2022 saw a few episodes air, with the show then releasing some more special episodes in the spring and winter of 2023.

In 2024, episodes aired in January, June, September and December.

So far in 2025, three episodes have aired, with all of these airing in January.
