EMMERDALE fans declared they ‘can’t cope’ after Caleb Miligan’s revenge plan went wrong.

Caleb (William Ash) was enraged to learn Anthony (Nicholas Day) had abused his own daughter – and Caleb’s wife – Ruby (Beth Cordingly) in her teenage years.

In scenes aired earlier this week, the villain managed to evade Caleb’s wrath.

Anthony already sustained a candlestick blow to the skull, courtesy of Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy).

As the two came face-to-face in an empty barn, Caleb pointed a gun at his father-in-law.

He demanded a confession from Anthony for his abhorrent crimes against Ruby.

Things soon took a turn, with the men struggling over control of the firearm.

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) arrived at the scene as the sound of gunfire rang out.

By the following night’s instalment, viewers learned neither Caleb or Anthony had been shot.

While Cain raced to see what happened, Anthony escaped Caleb’s grasp and fled.

Unfortunately, Cain arrived just moments too late as he witnessed Anthony’s escape.

He then turned his attention to half-brother Caleb, checking in on him.

Viewers soon took to social media and shared their disbelief of Anthony eluding both Caleb and Cain.

One wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Anthony is running well for someone who has a terminal illness #emmerdale.”

Another added: “How is Anthony out running Cain, I can’t cope #Emmerdale.”

A third commented: “#Emmerdale Anthony cornered like a Ferrari when scarpering there. Not bad for eighty odd with concussion”,

While a fourth remarked: “Anthony couldn’t have gotten that far. He’s 70 with a head injury #Emmerdale.”

Despite the half-brothers losing sight of Anthony, the baddie still met a gruesome end.

Grisly scenes saw the village monster beaten to death on the depot floor by one enraged character.

It had been teased all week that either Chas, Nicola, Laurel, Caleb, Ruby, Aaron or Cain would be the one to deliver the final blow.

All seven had run-ins with Anthony and discovered to an extent the truth of what he was really like.

Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
