SIR Elton John is known for his weird and wonderful eyewear almost as much as he is for his huge hits.
But now he’s revealed that his glasses collection is so vast, even his mega mansion in Windsor isn’t big enough to store them all.
Elton performed a one-off gig with Brandi Carlile at the London Palladium on Wednesday evening and was quizzed on stage about his career, as well as his favourite specs.
When asked by Canadian actor Dan Levy how many he has, Elt replied: “I don’t really know. We keep them in storage as I don’t have that big a house but I would say, I guess at least between ten and 15 thousand.”
Laughing, Brandi added: “Now I don’t feel bad about my shoes.”
But perhaps the I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues singer should have dug out a better pair for the show, which was filmed for an ITV special that will air on April 19.
During the evening, he and Brandi were treated to video messages from A-list supporters including Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa.
But when a clip of Sam Smith was played, he was baffled and had to ask Brandi who it was.
He and Sam have long been supporters of each other — with Elton even interviewing the Lay Me Down singer for Attitude magazine in 2017.
Another showbiz pal, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, was also spotted in the crowd.
But he accidentally forced producers to reshoot one of the TV links after he was caught in the background doddering back from the toilet.
Despite shifting 300million records worldwide and scoring nine UK No1 albums, Elton said he wants to be remembered for one thing — being a good dad.

Sitting down at the piano, Elton explained: “I said after Glastonbury I wouldn’t tour, and I’m not touring.
“But I would be an idiot not to take the time to play some of the album and to play with Brandi who I have never played with before
