The actor joined co-star Shantol Jackson, who plays DS Naomi Thomas, for an interview on Lorraine.

It comes as Death In Paradise is currently airing its fourteenth series on the Beeb.

Presenter Lorraine Kelly asked the duo: “When are you back to the sunshine then?”

To which Don responded: “Unfortunately it is about April time, end of April.”

“Why is that unfortunate Don?” asked Shantol, who seemed amused by the remark.

Laughing, Don clarified: “I just meant for the people I am going to leave.”

The former EastEnders star made his debut as Mervin in the 2024 Christmas Special.

Don replaced Ralf Little, who left the show after four years playing DI Neville Parker.

Now featuring in his first full series, Don stars alongside returning actors Shantol, Ginny Holder, Don Warrington, and Elizabeth Bourgine.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted how he originally appeared in the show back in 2015.

The former soap villain played a different character named Andre Morgan.

Viewers have seen Mervin complain about island life ever since arriving in Saint Marie – much to his team’s frustration.

The police detective originally travelled to the island hoping to meet his birth mother Dorna Bray.

Unfortunately, he instead discovered she had recently died.

Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) informed Mervin about Dorna’s death in an accident while scattering her father’s ashes sea.

The inspector remains sceptical and extends his stay on Saint Marie to dig further.

On Friday, however, fans will see him investigate the suspicious death of a wellness business owner.

Death in Paradise continues on BBC One and iPlayer.
