A DIY enthusiast has given her kitchen a mega makeover and people can’t believe it’s a council property.
Emma, a young woman from the UK, used bargain buys from Amazon and Wilko to transform her pad, all whilst staying on a tight budget.
Now, people have described the home as ‘stunning’ and ‘beautiful’, thanks to Emma’s budget transformation.
Eager to share a before and after look of her kitchen overhaul, Emma took to social media, leaving many gobsmacked.
Posting on DIY On A Budget, a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members, Emma uploaded a snap of her once very dark kitchen.
She also posted a picture of her gorgeous kitchen after its overhaul – and we think it looks fabulous.
Alongside her post, Emma beamed: “Quite proud of myself. Little council kitchen makeover.”
Emma confirmed that she didn’t ask the council for permission to transform her home, but explained: “I used sage cupboard paint from Wilko. It gets very sticky – use a small foam roller for best results.
“Floor is just peel and stick squares [from] Amazon – for a pack of 40 for £75.”
As well as stick-on tiles, Emma also nabbed her black kitchen cupboard handles from Amazon.
Thanks to purse-friendly buys, this savvy woman was also to brighten up her space.
Not only has she added style to her kitchen, but it’s now super trendy too.

She told us: “I love a bright space and had been meaning to do it for some time.
“[I was] bored of the old council kitchen colours.”

Emma’s Facebook post has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly racked up 1,100 likes and 173 comments.
Social media users rushed to the comments to praise Emma’s kitchen – and many claimed her DIY job had made the room look much “bigger”.

To this, Emma replied and confirmed: “Very easy, get a sharp Stanley.”
Not only were users stunned by Emma’s kitchen, but many couldn’t believe it was a council property.
One woman wrote: “What’s the difference between a council kitchen and a house with a mortgage kitchen?”
Whilst a second chimed in: “Doesn’t matter if it’s council or private. It’s your home.”
