DORITOS fans have been left baffled after finding out what one classic flavour actually tastes of.
The famous tortilla crisp flavour has been crunched across the nation since 1994, but it turns out nobody really knew what they were enjoying.
The much-loved Cool Original Dorito is easily identifiable by its iconic bright blue bag.
It seems customers have been happily munching away on the tasty snack for years without realising what they’re eating, Express reports.
Debuting as Cool Ranch Doritos in the US in 1986, the moreish snack quickly built a loyal fanbase and hit UK shelves in 1994 as Cool Original.
They were branded as Cool Original here and Cool American in other parts of Europe as ranch dressing isn’t as well-known this side of the pond.
Brits loved the snack so much it quickly became our number 1 tortilla chip brand.
Last year, parent brand PepsiCo even claimed nearly a third of UK households buy Doritos.
Which means there have been a whole lot of people left gobsmacked by what they’ve been tasting all this time.
TikTok user @ggh.hope shared her shock revelation on the video-sharing platform, posting a video of the recognisable blue packaging.
The university student wrote: “Just a house of 20-year old girls who have only just found out cool original Doritos are sour cream flavour.”
Flipping her chip packet over, she revealed confirmation on the packaging, which says “full-on crunch with an intense cool original sour cream flavour.”

Meanwhile two new limited edition flavours have hit shelves this year – The Creeper Vinegar and The Ghast BBQ.
Inspired by A Minecraft Movie, in cinemas April 4, they have a zesty flavour, and sweet and tangy taste respectively.
So any fans struggling to come to terms with the Cool Original revelation have plenty of other exciting flavours to choose from.
But they’ll want to stock up on the Minecraft-inspired flavours while they can, as they won’t be available for long.
