Berlin‘s Fire Department quickly triggered a “mass casualty” alarm after the crash as officials feared the worst.

A rescue helicopter was deployed at the scene, along with 60 firefighters and 22 large vehicles.

Heroic locals are said to have rescued the person trapped under the car before officials arrived, the Berlin Fire Department said.

The motive behind the car attack is still unclear bit cops have said they don’t believe it was terror related.

A teenager is believed to have been behind the wheel at the time and reversed onto the pavement as he tried to flee cops.

The driver had no licence and was carrying three other teenage passengers in the car, say local media.

All four people were arrested at the scene as authorities are continuing to investigate.

The attack is the third public car ramming incident in Germany in the span of a few weeks.

Two weeks ago, a black car sped through the busy German city of Mannheim before smashing into unsuspecting locals.

It left two dead and another 14 injured.

In February, a mum and her child died after a suspected Islamist terrorist rammed his Mini Cooper into a crowd in Munich.

The woman, 37, and her two-year-old daughter were among 39 injured in the “shocking attack” which was said to have been carried out by a rejected Afghan asylum seeker.

The Mini Cooper is said to have “sped up” and ploughed into the back of around 1,500 Verdi demonstrators – a Berlin-based German trade union – on Seidlstrasse in Munich

The suspect was a 24-year-old who is understood to have been known to police in relation to drug and theft incidents.

He is said to have posted Islamist content on social media before the heinous incident.

Unconfirmed reports from eyewitnesses in the horror incident claim there were two men involved in the crowd plough, with one of them shot by police and carried away, according to BR24.

In December, 2024, six people were killed and over 200 injured when a car rammed into a crowded Christmas market in Magdeburg sparking far-right protests.

The suspect, named by local media as Taleb A, was travelling at up to 40mph when he first smashed into those at the festive celebrations, horrified witnesses said.

He reportedly raced through the packed market for at least 400m (1,300ft) – leaving trails of devastation in his path.

Footage later captured the driver of a black BMW being arrested at the scene.
