A 15-YEAR-OLD boy has been stabbed at a busy park in broad daylight as cops launch an urgent probe.

West Midlands Police were called to Turnberry Park, in Great Barr, Birmingham, shortly after 4pm on Monday.

Officers found a 15-year-old boy with serious injuries near the park in Turnberry Road, opposite Calshot Primary School.

He was rushed to hospital, where he remains, by emergency services.

The park has been sealed off and photographs from the scene show an underpass covered with police tape.

Local residents can expect to see more officers patrolling the area tonight.

A police spokesperson said: “We will have officers patrolling in the area tonight to offer reassurance to the community.”

The force added: “We were called to Turnberry Park, off Turnberry Road, Great Barr, shortly after 4pm today (Mon) after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed.

“He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“We are in the early stages of our investigation and would urge witnesses or people with information to contact us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101 quoting log number 3629 of 17 March.

A member of the Friends of Turnberry Park said: “We are deeply concerned about the incident that took place in the park today.

“We have been speaking with sports organisations about bringing activities to the park, as we believe positive community engagement can help create a safer environment.

“We will continue exploring ways to improve safety in the park.”
