One of the BBC’s most beloved factual shows, Walking with Dinosaurs has been revived for the brand new six-part series.

Voiced by award-winning Doctor Foster actor Bertie Carvel, the captivating 60 second trailer teases the impressive landscapes, from the mountainous forests in Alberta to the red rock canyons of Utah.

The double Olivier and Tony award-winning star will lend his vocals to bring to life each episode and guide viewers through the dramatic stories of six individual dinosaurs.

These include a Spinosaurus – the largest carnivorous dinosaur to ever walk the earth – roaming the rivers of ancient Morocco; a youthful Triceratops battling a ravenous T. rex in North America; and a lonely giant Lusotitan risking it all for a love in Portugal.

The Crown and Doctor Foster star Bertie Carvel says: “I am beyond thrilled to be a part of this exciting new reimagining of Walking With Dinosaurs.

“The BBC is a world-leader in creating groundbreaking and innovative science programming which I’ve admired all my life, so I’m incredibly excited to be a part of the team bringing the stories of these prehistoric creatures to life.”

Jack Bootle, Senior Head of Specialist Factual Commissioning says: “This series shows how dinosaurs really lived – and the true story is more dramatic, intense, and surprising than anything Hollywood could dream up.

“Using the latest science and stunning visuals, we’re bringing their world to life like never before.”

Sylvia Bugg, PBS Chief Programming Executive and General Manager, General Audience Programming says: “Twenty-five years ago, Walking With Dinosaurs changed the way we viewed the prehistoric world.

“With this exciting reimagining, we’re proud to partner with the BBC and invite viewers to witness the awe-inspiring lives of these incredible creatures once again.”

The ambitious, entertaining and factual show will leave audiences with ‘their hearts in their mouth one moment and their minds blown the next‘.

Walking with Dinosaurs originally aired in 1999. The six-part nature documentary aired on the BBC with narration from Sir Kenneth Branagh.

Inspired by the film Jurassic Park, the programme combined CGI and animatronics with live action footage to recreate extinct species.

The show’s success spawned follow-ups including Walking with Beasts, Walking with Cavemen and Walking with Monsters
