BBC Breakfast star Nina Warhurst has QUIT her long-running role as the show’s business correspondent after landing a major new gig.

The TV presenter, 44, has been working on the Beeb’s morning offering since 2018 as their resident business reporter but she will be stepping down from that role at the end of the month.

Nina confirmed the news in a post on X – formerly Twitter – in which she simultaneously revealed her brand new position.

The star will be joining the team on BBC News at One as the lead presenter, live from Salford.

Nina wrote online: “Hanging up the high-viz & hairnet as I join the BBC’s News at One.

“Our London team built a gem of a programme & it’s a privilege to be on the Salford team taking it forward

“The teenage me who lived half a mile from here & dreamed of journalism would NOT believe it.”

Her appointment on the News at One comes just one day after it was revealed that host Anna Foster had stepped down to also take on a brand new job role.

Whilst it seems that the door is firmly closed on Nina’s business days on BBC Breakfast, she may continue to make guest appearances as a stand-in host as she frequently has done in the past.

The BBC’s big boss for Breakfast and News, Richard Frediani, also shared a message to congratulate Nina on her move, as he said: “Delighted to welcome Nina Warhurst as a regular presenter of the News at One from April.

“Congratulations – a brilliant addition to the team in Salford.”

Nina’s fans were quick to share their messages of support too but admitted they would be sad to no longer see her regularly first thing in the morning.

One fan wrote: “Congrats but will miss you on breakfast x.”

Another added: “Congratulations Nina. Admired your work since the channel M days.”

Before a third wrote: “Just going to miss a bit of your personality, charm and brilliant humour that you have to contain in reading the serious news – booooo!!!

“But really pleased for you that you are moving onto to formalise and you will be extremely good at.”

The news of Nina’s move comes as journalist Anna Foster confirmed she had left her position as the anchor of BBC News At One – which Nina has now fulfilled.

But she is now turning her back on the TV news bulletins in order to become a leading presenter on BBC Radio 4’s long-running flagship programme, Today.

From next month, Anna will be in the roster of main presenters on the programme which broadcasts to millions every morning.

She will undertake her hosting duties from both London as well as the BBC’s base in Salford at MediaCityUK.
