THE BBC has axed its property series that directly rivalled a huge Netflix hit.

Bosses at the broadcaster first brought the show to screens nearly two years ago believing it would be the next big reality show.

However, Crazy Rich Agents has been cancelled after just one series on air, despite being the next best thing to Netflix‘s Selling Sunset.

Set in London, it saw five budding estate agents compete for a chance to relocate to New York and work for the prestigious brokerage firm Nest Seekers.

The Sun understands the deeds are signed and there are no plans to bring the format back for a second helping.

Its first series ran for just four episodes and there was appetite for the show to continue.

While Crazy Rich Agents gave an insight into the property market, it also delivered dramatic, tension-filled scenes like Selling Sunset thanks to the eccentric cast.

One star of the show – Daniel McPeake – previously swiped at Crazy Rich Agents being compared to Selling Sunset.

The millionaire tycoon said: “Selling Sunset has a whiff of bullshit – it’s a reality show with fantastic, beautiful people in mini-skirts showing penthouses.

“But there’s nothing underneath the bonnet, nothing to show people how to do it or what’s going on in real estate – it’s a complete farce.

“That’s not the show we wanted to make. This is not LA, this is London. It’s cold, it’s rainy and you’ve got to get the Tube.

“They may be talking about million-pound homes but then go back to sleep on their sister’s sofa – that is the actual reality.”
