ALISON Hammond left fans in stitches after getting tipsy in the Great British Bake Off tent during a Hogmanay New Year special.

Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, along with presenters Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, were joined by a bevvy of Scottish bakers from across the years.

The trio of traditional Scottish bakes began with a Signature featuring an old-fashioned dish that some might say is an acquired taste.

The Technical Challenge tested the bakers on a Scottish staple; shortbread.

And in the Showstopper, the bakers showcased their national pride with a celebratory cranachan creation.

This paid homage to the traditional dessert that typically combines oats, whisky, honey, raspberries and cream.

However Alison, who joined the Bake Off team in 2023, couldn’t resist trying some of the Scottish whiskey.

And she soon regretted her decision.

The bubbly presenter couldn’t resist indulging in the festive cheer while Peter was making his festive bake.

He told her to take “just a little sip” and asked, “would you like any water? It’s quite strong.”

After drinking, Alison gasped: “Yeah, I need water.”

The pair laughed as Peter informed her the drink they tried was about 58% alcohol.

Alison then tried to say “I feel better already,” but stumbled over her words.

She then added: “I better put that down,” before placing the glass out of her reach.

Also in the episode, in a nod to the Scottish theme, the judges and presenters donned themed attire.

However, Alison couldn’t hide her disappointment with Bake Off stalwart Paul Hollywood over his clothing choices.

She told Birmingham Live: “Oh, it was brilliant, it was so much fun. I’ll get up on my feet and start dancing. I’m straight in there.

“Paul wore a kilt… and so did Prue. Well, she wore a tartan skirt… And Paul did wear his pants underneath. We were really upset!”
