Aldi discontinues teatime favourite as shoppers spot dish missing from shelves

ALDI customers were gutted after a store favourite vanished from shelves.

Despite the German discounter releasing new flavours of the discontinued snack, shoppers were not impressed.

Crestwood Mac and Cheese Crispbakes have been removed from frozen aisles of the store.

The breadcrumb-coated pasta patties had a gooey cheese centre and came in packs of two.

They have been replaced by a new cheese and onion flavour – which doesn’t seem to be hitting the spot.

Shoppers can also tuck into corned beef and cheese and bacon flavours.

On a Facebook page created by Aldi fans, one person warned others “not to get attached” to products in the store as they often disappear without warning.

“Hate this about Aldi, they bring some good stuff out and then without warning poof, they are gone/discontinued.”

“The new flavours are horrible,” moaned a second.

“Hated them, so bland. Back to cheese and onion,” a third chimed.

Another shopper said that the corned beef flavour should have been replaced, not the mac and cheese.

“Never get attached to any products in Aldi. Always happens,” warned another saddened customer.

They were even a huge hit with shoppers over in Australia, with shoppers calling them “next-level amazing.”

A spokesperson for Aldi said: “We continually review our range of products to make sure we’re meeting the needs of Aldi shoppers.”

However, there is another freezer favourite still available – and it’s a McDonald’s dupe.

Inspired by the fast food chain’s Chicken Big Mac, the bargain supermarket offers a Spicy Chicken Stack burger.

The fiery version of the chicken burger is a chicken fillet coated in breadcrumbs and topped with a slice of burger cheese and crispy hash brown and can be cooked in an air fryer or oven.

It was spotted and posted by New Foods UK Facebook page and followers were quick to hit the like button.

The burger costs just £1.49 and you can find your nearest Aldi by using the online store finder.

It might also be worth calling your local branch to see if they have any in stock.

The Chicken Big Mac was on McDonald’s menus last autumn but for fans it was sadly only for a limited time.

Before that it was twice on menus since first launching in 2022.

The popular burger contains a chicken patty, pickle, cheese and lettuce, though was not spicy, and was priced at £4.79.

That means you can save £3.30 buying the Aldi version.
