Urgent warning about item you should NEVER cook in the air fryer – it’s a fire hazard & could wreck your device

ANYONE with an air fryer will love how versatile they are, able to cook a wide variety of tasty dishes in a flash.

But Grace Forell, a consumer expert, has warned there’s one thing you should NEVER use your air fryer to cook – as it could damage your device or, worse, cause a fire.

Experts have warned against using air fryers to make popcorn

Grace took to BBC Morning Live to advise viewers against cooking popcorn in their machine, Mail Online reports.

She told people: “Popcorn won’t cook well in an air fryer as most models won’t reach the required temperature to pop the kernels.

“Popcorn kernels can also become lodged within the air fryer’s heating element, which may cause the appliance to short, creating a fire hazard.

“Stick with the microwave or the hob for popcorn if you’re settling down for a good movie night!”

And popcorn isn’t the only food item experts warn against cooking in the air fryer.

Air fryer popcorn trend

The popularity of air fryers has skyrocketed in recent years, as more and more people hunt for the affordable kitchen gadgets.

With so many innovative options on the market, it’s no wonder the British public are ditching their ovens.

The appliances are often healthier, cook food quicker while being cheaper to run too.

Now, the internet is flooded with all sorts of air fryer recipes.

Recently, air fryer popcorn recipes have become a viral trend, with videos and blog posts sweeping the internet.

But experts like Grace have been left horrified, advising against the idea.

One Facebook user shared their recipe for air fryer popcorn online, to the group Air Fryer Recipes for Beginners.

There, 1.4 million members share helpful air fryer tips and recipes with each other to make the most of their machines.

The member shared a link to instructions and wrote: “Air Fryer Popcorn is a fun and easy.”

But users in the comments warned against the idea.

One person wrote: “Good way to have people burning their air fryers.”

A second replied: “Oh, is it? Why? I just got an air fryer, was gonna try this for the kids.”

To which somebody else responded: “Too light, will fly around, trap and burn on the top. Definitely cannot do.”

While another user commented: “Don’t do this!”
