A PRIMARK store has been closed by police after a woman tragically died.

Cops and emergency services rushed to the scene on Market Place, in Oldham, Manchester, last night after concern for the welfare of a female.

Greater Manchester Police said that a woman aged 60 suffered a medical episode.

She was later tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

A cordon remained in place while emergency crews responded to the incident.

However, there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, said cops.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman who had fallen ill while inside the store, according to the MEN.

An air ambulance was also summoned to the scene and landed at a nearby car park.

Paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

A Primark spokesperson told The Sun: “We are aware of a medical incident that occurred in our Oldham store yesterday, and we send our deepest condolences to the individual’s family and all those affected.

“We will continue to support our colleagues as our store reopens for trading as usual today.”
