DANIEL FRUNZA was left with a gruesome injury to his lip after his defeat to Rhys McKee at UFC Vegas 105 on Saturday.

Frunza fell to a first round beating at the hands of Irishman McKee, and UFC chief Dana White shared a stomach-churning video of the injury afterwards.

Frunza, 30, fell to a record of 9-3 after the fight, but it was the damage to his face he will have been more worried about than the damage to his record.

The Romanian completely split his top lip – badly enough for the cage-side doctor to call an end to the fight ahead of the second round.

Now Frunza has had to have stitches in order to put his lip back together.

The 6’1″ fighter, who is nicknamed ‘Tigano’, looked like he wanted to carry on at the time, but had no choice but to take the defeat.

While fans online have praised the officials for bringing the fight to a close.

One wrote: “Good stoppage. He would have lost his entire lip”.

While another added: “These doctors are incredible”.

Frunza was also left with a huge black eye and cuts all over his face from the brutal beating.

On his Instagram page after the fight, he wrote: “I feel good. A bit heartbroken for the result, but I’ll be back and more dangerous than ever”.

The loss brings an end to a five-fight winning streak for Frunza, who beat Vadtm Kustsyi last time out.

Meanwhile McKee picked up his first UFC win after losing all of his first four promotional head-to-heads.

And he also took home a $50,000 (£38,800) bonus for Performance of the Night.

Elsewhere Lerone Murphy got the better of Josh Emmett by unanimous decision in the main event of the night.

While Pat Sabatini beat Joanderson Brito and Chang Ho Lee earned a TKO win over Cortavious Romious.
