A CONTESTANT on this weekend’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire walked away from a tough £125k question but would you have known the answer?

The latest episode of the ITV quiz show saw Jeremy Clarkson pose questions to Matthew Trantor, a GP from Birmingham.

Matthew made his way up the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire ladder to £64,000 and having no lifelines left – decided to set his safety at £125k.

But as Jeremy reminded him – he had to get there first!

He posed the question: “Which of these words coined by famous children’s authors appeared first in print?”

The former Top Gear host then offered up “Snozzcumber, Heffalump, Chortled and Quaffle,” as options but it was clear that Matthew wasn’t feeling too confident.

Matthew responded: “Literature isn’t my strong point and children’s literature is even lower.

“And I have nothing I can even go off.

“If I answered this, it’ll be a one in four chance and I don’t think the audience’s hearts can take that.

“So with no regrets, I’m gonna walk.”

Jeremy then asked him if that was his final answer and he explained that he was hoping that Jabberwocky would appear but it didn’t.

Before he added: “So I’m gonna take the money, final answer.”

Jeremy replied: “So that means Matthew Trantor you are leaving here with £64k – great play.”

He then asked Matthew what he would have chosen and he replied: “Snozzcumber because that feels a bit Jabberwocky like.”

Jeremy revealed the correct answer was in fact Chortled and if he had chosen Snozzcumber he would have only walked away with £1k.

Yesterday, The Sun also revealed how Matthew had needed help on an answer for a tough geography question.

Whilst he seemed confident and managed to answer his first few questions with ease, a question about the historic regions of France threw him off course.

Jeremy asked Matthew the following question: “Dijon is the capital of which historic French region.”

He was then given the options of “Normandy, Brittany, Limousin and Burgundy,” but it was clear that Matthew was struggling.

Pulling a number of faces to show his confusion, he then said: “I don’t know the answer to this.”

Mathew then went on to blow three lifelines on the difficult question.

Firstly, with Jeremy who admitted he couldn’t really help him then with a phone a friend who told him he wasn’t sure of the answer.

Before Matthew finally asked the audience and then took a punt on the correct answer of Brittany.
