MCDONALD’S is shaking up its menu with THREE new items including an Apple Cake McFlurry and a Minecraft-themed kids toy.

The fast food chain is unveiling fresh menu items, toys and collectables based on the iconic video game within days.

Three popular items will also be leaving the McDonald’s menu next week.

From March 26, shoppers can get their hands on a new Apple Cake McFlurry, “Nether Flame” hot sauce and Cheesy Garlic Bread Dippers.

The McFlurry combines soft dairy ice cream with apple and shortcake pieces, topped with a sour apple sauce and is on sale for £1.69.

Meanwhile, the new “Nether Flame” hot sauce is inspired by the Minecraft game.

There are also six new Minecraft orders to go with the hot sauce, which includes a Big Mac, nine McNuggets, four Veggie Dippers, plus your choice of side and drink.

It will be available as a medium or large meal, with prices starting at £8.19.

There are also 12 Minecraft toys or a Minecraft book available with the Happy Meal.

Customers can pick up four Cheesy Garlic Bread Dippers for £2.40 or a share box for £6.66.

Leaving the menu will be the Shamrock Shake, Mozzarella Dippers and Mars McFlurry on March 25.

As ever, what goes on must come off and three menu items will be coming off menus to make way for the new ones.

We taste the new items

I was invited along to a central London McDonald’s restaurant to try two of the new menu items.

I loved the new apple pie McFlurry, despite not really being a sweet treat lover.

The apple biscuit was zingy and I like how the shortcake added crunch.

I also tried the new Nether sauce. It tasted a bit like chutney, except without the sweetness and a bit lacking in flavour. It was very hot though.
