DARTS star Chris Dobey has revealed that players are banned from wearing football kits on stage.

The world No8 faces Rob Cross in the quarter-final of Premier League night six in Nottingham this evening.

While Dobey will be fully focused on winning £10,000 tonight, his attention turns to the Carabao Cup final on Sunday as he cheers on his beloved Newcastle against Liverpool.

Hollywood is heading to Wembley for the match but will not be able to show his support for the Toon at the oche tonight.

He confirmed to the Juicy Darts Podcast that “you’re not allowed” to wear football shirts on stage.

And that ban extends to darts fans as arenas hold a policy to not allow any punters in wearing footie merchandise.

Dobey explained: “Obviously, in case there’s any trouble in the crowd.

“There were a lot of Sunderland fans there [in Newcastle] a couple of years ago. I remember getting booed a little bit, so no.”

Should Eddie Howe’s Magpies beat Liverpool on Sunday, it will end the club’s 70-year wait for silverware.

Dobey said: “It could be one of the best weeks ever. I’ll happily spend the full £10,000 on it.

“If I can win that on that Thursday night, I’ll be one happy person, especially going into the weekend.

“I’m definitely going to the game. I’m in with the fans this time. I did that the last time they played in a cup final.

“I wanted to be with the atmosphere. There’s a group of us that go to home and away games and we’re all going together.

“We’ll be at Wembley’s Boxpark before the match as well, spend a few hours there, soak in the atmosphere.

“We’ll probably be at Covent Garden or Leicester Square beforehand on the Saturday as well.

“Take in every little bit of atmosphere and get ready for the big one on the Sunday.”
