He was at a stop light when a van smashed into the back of his vehicle, according to TMZ.

The influencer , who was also a ski instructor, was left with a severe traumatic brain injury.

Cross, from Virginia, was on life support for over a month, but he died on March 4 after the machines were switched off.

His sister Jenna described the family‘s final moments before life support was turned off, per a CaringBridge post.

She revealed doctors put Cross on a mobile ventilator and did a loop of the intensive care unit.

“Then in the room, friends & family read scripture, prayed, and sang during the process of removing life support and for over an hour afterwards,” she said.

“It was peaceful and beautiful. Andrew really lived life to the fullest, and his story & impact isn’t over yet.”

Cops have revealed the van driver, Ragnar Nickolas Kristl, has been hit with a slew of charges.

He was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

He has also been charged with careless and reckless driving.

Kristl has also been charged with vehicular homicide.

Cross, a professional guide, was known as the Desert Drifter on the internet.

His last Instagram post was in August 2024, where he shared a picture of a canyon landscape.

He simply captioned the snap: “Desert Driftin.”

That post has been filled with tributes since his death.

“We will miss you my friend,” one mourner said.

“I felt a real kinship with you. I would always watch your adventures at night, because I am a night owl.

“Thanks for bringing us all along on your adventures.”

Another fan said they was left heartbroken and revealed they had just stumbled across Cross’s social media platforms just weeks before his death.

Cross joined YouTube in November 2023 and had more than 450,000 subscribers.

The last video uploaded to his account was on February 3.

In the clip, Cross’s wife Evelyn struggled to hold back tears as she shared an update with fans about his condition.

She asked fans for their prayers and support.

She revealed that he was fighting for his life in the hospital.

The pair had been married since 2021.

Only weeks before the crash, Cross uploaded a vlog of himself exploring an American Southwest canyon.

He claimed to have found signals from a prehistoric civilization.

Meanwhile, Kristl is due to appear in court on March 12.
