BRITISH schoolchildren who have longed to spend their school holidays at an American summer camp can make their dreams a reality without leaving the UK.

Outdoor activity organiser Porthpean Outdoor is running an ‘activity-packed’ holiday camp called Camp Cornwall.

Camp Cornwall will run for several weeks in the school summer holidays

Running from the end of July into August, Camp Cornwall will give eight to fourteen-year-olds the chance to live out their Camp Rock dreams.

Located just a stone’s throw from Porthpean Beach, Camp Cornwall hopes to “blend the best of traditional British youth camps with the excitement and camaraderie of an American-style summer camp”.

Campers will be able to take part in a host of activities, such as kayaking, paddleboarding, coasteering, caving, archery and laser tag.

Other creative activities include t-shirt design, bushcraft and arts and crafts.

The camp also hopes to build on social skills like confidence and resilience.

Overnight stays will take place in glamping-style bunkhouses.

Each tent bunkhouse has comfortable cushioned flooring, bean bags, a camping sofa and bunk beds with a duvet and pillow.

Three daily meals and snacks are included in the price.

The Camp Cornwall sample menu lists pancakes and fry-ups for breakfast, with pasta dishes and sausage rolls planned for lunch.

Roast dinners and hearty curries will be served as an evening meal.

Evening entertainment will also be provided.

An on-site tuck shop selling ice cream, drinks, treats and merchandise will open soon.

Two-night all-inclusive stays start from £249 per person, with trips including activities, meals and accommodation.

Meanwhile, five-night stays start from £619 per person.

If you don’t want to send your kids off for the whole week, Camp Cornwall also runs a day camp from 8.30am to 4pm.

Day passes start from £45 per person and include activities and lunch.

Each group of children is given their own Camp Rep, with a dedicated Overnight Manager also on-site.

Elliot Grange, Centre Manager of Porthpean Outdoor, commented, “Camp Cornwall is designed to help children grow into strong, independent individuals.

“By stepping out of their comfort zones and facing new challenges in a supportive environment, they develop the self-belief and problem-solving skills that will benefit them for years to come.”

Activities Manager, Chris Riddell, added: “Our carefully structured program allows campers to challenge themselves while also finding moments for reflection and creativity.”

Meanwhile, there’s a beautiful campsite in the middle of a vineyard and it’s near one of Europe’s most underrated cities.

At the end of last year, a beachfront campsite in Europe revealed a huge £21million revamp.
