In her viral video, Instagram user Victoria (@victorias.way_) showed her followers the step she takes before her husband goes on a night out.

The wife referred to the controversial method as a “smart women’s trick”.

She explained that her tracking technique helps to “keep your husband safe on a night out”.

The Instagrammer demonstrated how she slips on AirTag into “the inner side pocket” of her husband’s trainers.

“You’ll always know his location in case of an emergency,” she told her audience.

Victoria added that “you never know what could happen” while your partner is out.

With over 5.5 million views, the wife received mixed reactions for her hack.

People called out the invasion of privacy in the Instagram comments section.

“[If] he finds out. It is straight to divorce court,” pointed out one viewer.

“So you can spy on him? Tell me you’re insecure without telling me you’re insecure,” said another follower.

“The whole ‘I’m doing this to keep you safe thing’ is such an evil excuse,” commented a third person.

“Stalking now has a new name,” wrote another Instagram user.

Other people pointed out the potential double standard of the life hack.

“This isn’t healthy, equally, if a man did this, [there] would be uproar. It’s not acceptable to do it,” said one viewer.

“Now reverse genders and the world would cry out,” wrote another follower.

One commenter agreed, describing it as “controlling and coercive behaviour”.

“No, no, no. That’s a violation of privacy,” pointed out one Instagram user.

“If you need to track them this way, marrying may have been an error in judgement on your part,” wrote another person.

“You can share your location on your phone. But we know this isn’t about making sure he’s safe,” commented one viewer.

“Nothing says I don’t trust you like a hidden tracking device,” said another commenter.
