Now they will be turning their hand to voicing an audiobook

They will be voicing Murder Most Foul, a dark historical crime novel written by Outnumbered co-creator Guy Jenkin.

The novel is set in Elizabethan London, and follows William Shakespeare’s search for the killer of his professional rival Christopher Marlowe, which he undertakes in an effort to clear his own name.

For the sake of the investigation he decides to team up with his former flame – Marlowe’s sister Ann.

The book, which is a mix of detective fiction and Tudor history, will be published on March 6, 2025 by WF Howes.

It will be available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook formats.

Speaking about his novel, Guy said: “I love Tudor history, I love detective fiction, and I’ve always wanted to write a novel, so this was the perfect solution.

“I’ve tried to write something smart, funny, and fun, and I hope everyone enjoys it. I know they’ll enjoy Claire and Hugh reading it.”

Hanna Kenne of WF Howes added: “It is so refreshing to see one of Britain’s most imaginative screenwriters and directors cross over into the world of crime fiction so seamlessly.

“Guy has created a spellbinding story, which Hugh and Claire lift from the page brilliantly. I’m sure listeners all over the world will be captivated by this truly unique audiobook.”

The news of Hugh and Claire’s latest collaboration comes just weeks after Outnumbered made a highly anticipated return for a Christmas special.

However the festive episode took a heartbreaking turn as fans were left in tears over the revelation that Pete had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The emotional storyline sparked a mixed reaction from viewers.

While some praised the show’s willingness to tackle real life issues, others felt it was an unexpectedly heavy subject for a Christmas episode.
