Baby girl found dead at home as woman, 21, and man, 41, arrested with urgent probe launched

A BABY girl has died at a home as cops arrest a woman and man amid an urgent probe.

Police responded to calls from a property in Oldham at around 12.56pm today and discovered the five-week-old newborn.

Emergency services rushed to the address on Nelson Way, in Chadderton.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics the infant was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 41-year-old man and 21-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at around 12.56pm today to Nelson Way, Chadderton to a report concerning the welfare of a baby.

“Emergency services attended and despite the best efforts of paramedics, she sadly died.

“A man (aged 41) and a woman (aged 21) have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. Enquiries are ongoing.”
