A BOILING Point star has landed a new role in a rival series – just days after it was shelved.
Earlier this week The Sun revealed how BBC bosses had rested Boiling Point after one series.


The four-part series followed the 2021 film of the same name and picked up eight months after the movie’s cliffhanger ending that saw irate chef Andy Jones, played by Stephen Graham, collapse with a heart attack.
While the cast are believed to be livid over its fate, one star Cathy Tyson has landed a new role in another BBC hit.
She’s signed up for the third series of crime drama Blue Lights as filming on the next instalment gets underway.
Bad Sisters star Michael Smiley has also joined the Bafta-winning Belfast based drama.
The Beeb are remaining tight-lipped for now with further details about their characters.
Returning are lead stars Siân Brooke and Martin McCann who play Grace Ellis and Stevie Neil respectively.
Katherine Devlin, Nathan Braniff, Joanne Crawford, Andi Osho (Sandra), Frank Blake, Abigail McGibbon, Dearbháile McKinney and Andrea Irvine will all reprise their roles too.
Blue Lights follows three rookie coopers who work in Belfast dealing with street an drug crime.
Its most recent series aired in April last year, but with filming only taking place now on the third instalment, fans will have a while to wait until the watch it all play out.
Series two averaged 5.6M viewers across the series, while episode one’s 7M made it the BBC’s fourth biggest drama launch last year
