DARTS fans were left furious when Sky Sports prematurely cut off its coverage of the Premier League to show A League of Their Own.

Coverage of night one abruptly ended at 11pm on Sky Sports Mix and Sky Showcase – despite the final still being played.

As a result, many fans were unable to watch some of the clash between Luke Humphries and Chris Dobey.

It’s understood the coverage was off for around 45 seconds before returning as Humphries threw the winning darts.

And some took to social media to vent their anger, with one person writing: “Sky Sports cutting the end of the darts coverage? What an absolute disgrace.”

Another commented: “Hey @skytv how about waiting until the @OfficialPDC darts is actually finished on sky showcase before putting @ALOTO on at exactly 11pm.”

A third said: “@SkySports sky sports mix and showcase cut away from darts at 11pm. Not a great look on opening night. Fix this for future nights. Investing 4 hours to end prematurely is poor.”

A fourth fumed: “Shocking finish to the darts on Sky Mix.”

While another wrote: “Thanks @SkyUK It was great that you put the first night of the @OfficialPDC Premier League on Sky Mix & Sky Showcase so everyone could watch UNTIL you cut the feed off in the final!!! ON BOTH CHANNELS!!”

Sky Showcase appeared to be the main channel affected, with Sky Sports Plus coverage continuing as normal.

Humphries won the final 6-1 in Belfast.

He now tops the Premier League Darts table with five points.

After the victory, Humphries told Sky Sports: “I thought I played pretty well in the first game, then against Michael [van Gerwen] I was very fortunate.

“It’s not like him to miss that amount of doubles but in that eighth or ninth leg, he let me in.

“Then in the final, me and Chris noticed there was a bit of a breeze that was hard to play through.

“But they were blowing my darts into the doubles so I was happy. Hopefully there’s a breeze more often!”
