A DEATH in Paradise star remains tight-lipped on the show’s future amid drastic changes and a death that rocks the police force.
A new series of the hit show is set to hit screens in just days with Don Gilet taking the leading role as DI Wilson after making his debut in the programme’s Christmas special.

However, the DI will be rocked by a shocking death on the Island that prevents his planned return to the UK.
Following the death of his mother the Detective had planned to return back home but soon finds himself embroiled in the case.
Elsewhere, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson’s (Don Warrington) job could be at risk when he discovers his position is to be abolished.
This unexpected twist will affect everyone on the small island community of Saint-Marie.
Speaking with the latest issue of Radio Times magazine, Don explained his characters feelings: “It’s very distressing.
“His life is being turned upside down, but he has to deal with the reality, it’s beyond his control.”
It appears that Don is remaining tight lipped about his future on the show because when it was suggested to Don that fans couldn’t imagine the show without him, he replied: “Well, who knows. Anything can happen in this life.”
Then when asked if he was excited about filming the next season? He said: “Well, I can’t answer that”
However, in a recent interview Mayor Catherine Bordey might become the Commissioner’s saviour as Elizabeth Bourgine hinted at her on-screen character’s role.
She commented: “She will be, even with Selwyn, helpful as a mayor and as a friend.

And as a friend, she can be very nice, tender, warm or angry.
“So we can see Catherine in very different ways in this series, and even with Darlene Curtis (played by Ginny Holder), we have a nice moment.”
But how will Catherine intervene in Selwyn’s predicament and can her bond with him truly free him from disaster?
Elsewhere, fans will be delighted to see a familiar face back on the island.
Actor Tobi Bakare who played the role of JP between series four and ten will be back for a guest stint.
His time on the show will see him playing opposite a brand new officer in Saint Marie, Benjamin Brice, played by Bad Education star Anthony J Abraham.
But just what will be in store for the pair on the tropical island?
Coronation Street‘s Bhavna Limbachia who played Rana Habeeb in the long running soap is one of this season’s guest stars.
She was the soap’s first Muslim lesbian character and her partnership with Faye Brookes, who played her lover Kate Connor has been highlighted amongst fans and the community.
Details of her role in Death in Paradise are currently being kept under wraps.

Death in Paradise will return to BBC One and iPlayer at 9pm on Friday 31st January.
