A SCOT who was serving as a medic in Ukraine has been killed on the frontline, his family confirmed.
Jordan Maclachlan volunteered to help Ukrainian forces after the country was invaded by Russia in February 2022.
The 26-year-old from Ardnamurchan in the Highlands tragically died on Friday.
His family have paid tribute to their “fun-loving” son, brother and grandson, saying they are “so proud of him helping others”.
In a statement, they told the BBC: “Jordan always believed that he was making a difference and we are all so proud of him helping others.”
“We are waiting for further information from the Foreign Office as information is very limited.
“Jordan was a fun-loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”
Last night Jordan’s devastated uncle Robert Mews said on Facebook: “With permission from my family I would like to say the following… At the start of the year we were given devastating news about my nephew.
“As some of you are aware he was volunteering in the war in Ukraine. He has been there for the past few years and has made such a difference.
“This man is probably the most selfless man I know and am proud to be his uncle.
“We were told a few days ago that he was killed in action after a Russian advance took their position.
“He told us many times he was proud to be helping out there. Either in his humanitarian efforts or most recently in an infantry role.

“He was unfortunately killed with his friend beside him. And never thought to leave his position.
“We have also been told because of the nature of the battle the body has not been retrieved.
“We are hoping that this will take place if the local forces can retake the ground.
“We couldn’t be more proud of this young man and ask you to please take a moment to think of him.
“Sleep well pal and thank you for your service.”
A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson told the BBC: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Ukraine and are in contact with the local authorities.”
The Foreign Office advises against all travel to certain parts of Ukraine, and all but essential travel to other areas.
Several Scots have made the trip over to fight alongside the Ukrainian army following the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022.
A Scots dad killed in Ukraine was described as “a hero” by his family.
Paramedic Jonathan Shenkin, 45, from Glasgow, in December 2022.
His family said he “made the ultimate sacrifice” by standing up to Vladimir Putin’s troops in Ukraine.
They said the dad “died as a hero in an act of bravery as a paramedic”.
